OUR VISION, MISSION AND GOALS

Our Vision

To ensure medical, psychological, social and spiritual support to all children with life-threatening conditions and their families by providing a network of resources and care.

Our Mission

  • To create public awareness of the needs of children with life-threatening conditions and their families, and of what children's hospice care can do to meet those needs
  • To include hospice perspectives in all areas of pediatric care and education
  • To include children with life-threatening conditions and their families in existing and developing hospice, palliative, end-of-life, and home care programs
  • To create and maintain a sustaining resource base

Statement of Purpose

CHI serves as an advocate in meeting the needs of children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Its programs include:

  • Support systems and referral network for children with life-threatening conditions and their families, as well as for those who have encountered the sudden loss of a child through accident or violence.
  • Support of health care providers and organizations that engage in the treatment of children with life-threatening conditions and their families, through education, training, and technical assistance programs.
  • A clearinghouse of information on research, programs, support groups, and education and training programs.

CHI recognizes that there are unique circumstances involved in the care of children with life-threatening conditions and their families, which differ significantly from those of adult patients. The concept embraces all aspects and phases of treatment counseling from time of diagnosis of the patient, with hope for cure, through bereavement of family members if cure is not attained.
