A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDING DIRECTOR AND CEO

Thank you for visiting the Children's Hospice International (CHI) website. Our goal is to provide families, patients and health care providers, community members and our elected leaders with a source of information and resources related to children's hospice and palliative care worldwide. We are also pleased to include information about CHI's signature program — the CHI Program for All-Inclusive Care for Children and their Families® (CHI PACC®).

Since we began working on the CHI PACC model, we have seen much success. Florida — our first demonstration program state to obtain a waiver from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement CHI PACC — now hopes to serve approximately 1,000 children who are already benefiting from this new program.

Many other states, including Colorado, Kentucky, New York, Utah and Virginia are various stages of development toward implementation of the CHI PACC model; as is the New England CHI PACC initiative which reaches out to 6 additional states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

CHI's mission is to provide all-inclusive healthcare for children with life-threatening conditions and their families from time of diagnosis, with hope for a cure, through bereavement counseling if the cure is not attained. With persistence and unwavering dedication to fulfilling the mission, the Friends of CHI continue to grow in number, allowing us to offer you a global resource of help.

CHI was founded over 20 years ago after making the discovery that there were no hospice services for children available. Since 1983, we have received incredible support from many medical professions especially the hospice, palliative, and home care communities; the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS); and the Congress of the United States. In addition, CHI has received thousands of hours in pro bono services from some of the finest legal and business minds available. Many are amazed with the impact a small non-profit organization can make in the extensive healthcare network.

It is hard to put into words the impact CHI has had on the health community. Since our beginning, we have been dedicated to both the medical professionals and the patients and families they serve. Our World Congress forums are designed to inform its international participants with the most current and innovative care techniques. Our annual Fantasy Flight event makes it possible for children to take an imaginary flight, on a real airplane, to the North Pole to meet Santa.

Whether you are a healthcare professional looking for resources, a family looking for help or a child looking for answers, the CHI website can provide you with useful tools and resources. If you do not find the information you are looking for, please call or email us, and we will help you to find it.

CHI is an organization dedicated to the quality of a child's life and the ongoing lives of their families. CHI is about life and living.

Warmest regards,

Ann Armstrong-Dailey
