INTERNSHIPS

Who we are:

Children's Hospice International (CHI) is a non-profit established in 1983 to promote hospice support through pediatric care facilities, to encourage the inclusion of children in existing and developing hospice, palliative and home care programs, and to include the hospice perspective in all areas of pediatric care, education, and the public arena. We are located in Alexandria, VA, USA just outside of Washington, DC.

What we do:

CHI provides support and resources for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. It is an international organization that provides education, training and technical assistance to health care professionals around the world. Additionally, CHI works with state and federal legislators and organizations to develop and support legislative and programmatic initiatives that encourage an all-inclusive continuum of care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families. CHI's Program for All-Inclusive Care for Children and their Families® (CHI PACC®) has received federal appropriations for demonstration projects in a number of states and the U.S. Department of Defense. We have national and international resource directories, and we receive daily inquiries by families, professionals, or others interested in end-of-life care for children from around the world.

What you as an intern would do:

We would expose you to all aspects of our organization, so you would learn the intricacies of non-profit administration, including service to the public, conference and event planning, fundraising and grant proposal writing, and organizational networking. Additionally, you would be exposed to the details of health policy and program development for children's end-of-life care.
